PRO-LIFE/PRO-REFUGEE

80% of white evangelicals voted for Donald Trump. I have a hard time with that number. I've literally lost sleep over that number. I hear all the time from that demographic that the other option was not any better. I will avoid the lecture on how you had many options in the primaries and many options at the presidential election. What's done is done.

I don't know why 80% of white evangelicals voted for Trump. I have a few guesses. I know some claim it was for his alleged pro-life stance. I hope that the pro-life voters now see that he is a liar. I hope that the pro-life voters are truly pro-life and not simply pro-birth. I pray you are willing to open your mind and accept and expand your view of pro-life to include the life of the born not just the unborn. Because if you are Christian, pro-life means pro-refugee, pro-Muslim, pro-black, pro-criminal, etc. We are to be for LIFE of all people. We are to walk with the broken and the sinners. That is literally what Jesus did.

The reality is that Donald Trump is now our president, so we must figure out where to go from here. We can all point fingers at one another, and I have certainly been guilty of that. So if you voted for Donald Trump, it's ok. You can take a stand now and help those that he does not want to help. Don't let pride or fear hinder you from doing what is right. Because helping refugees in unquestionably what Jesus would do. And if you are a nationalist, denying people based on their religion is not what America would do either. This is a horrible precedent and it must be overturned. I don't mean to be bossy but this is NOT up for debate if you are a Christian. We can argue over abortion. We can argue over gay marriage. We can argue over predestination. But we absolutely cannot argue over helping those in need.

Now it's time for me to get of my booty and practice what I'm preaching. For those of you in Nashville, I will see you at the protest on Wednesday.
